WELCOME

_______________
The First Baptist Church of Suitland has served its community for over 74 years. The friendly people who worship here extend a warm Christian greeting to you. We know you will be blessed by attending our services. We believe you will consider how Christ can become more real to you if you have not already placed your life in his hands.  The First Baptist Church of Suitland is located near Washington, DC. We are affiliated with the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware and the Southern Baptist Convention.

How You Can Know Christ

Realize that God loves you and offers you a wonderful plan for your life.

God so loved the world (that’s you) that He gave His only begotten Son (that’s Jesus) that if you believe in Him you would have eternal life.  John 3:16

Jesus speaking, the devil comes only to steal, kill and to destroy, but I (Jesus) have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly (meaning a life of purpose and substance).  John 10:10

Realize that man is sinful and separated from God; therefore he cannot know or experience God’s love and plan for his life.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  Romans 3:10 For the wages of sin (what we inherited from Adam due to his disobedience) is death (eternal separation), but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Romans 6:23

Understand that Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for man’s sin.

I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man comes to the Father but by me.  John 14:6

You must individually receive Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.

If you will confess with your mouth, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him (Jesus) from the dead, you will be saved.  Romans 10:9 Whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.  Romans 10:13

If you understand what you have just read, and want to commit your life to Jesus Christ, simply pray the prayer below.

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner, please forgive me for my sins, come into my heart, take over my life and make me the kind of person you want me to be.  In Jesus’ name Amen.

CONGRATULATIONS!  If you prayed that prayer, as of today, you can be sure that you are going to heaven.  Welcome to the family of God!!

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS
First Baptist Church of Suitland is blessed to be able to award scholarships to students because of the generosity of members who have gone home to be with the Lord.

The First Baptist Church of Suitland Scholarship Fund was established on October 5, 1998. The Fund was established as a result of a gift from the estates of Mrs. Goldie McRae and Mr. Luther McRae. The Stewardship Committee, Deacons, Trustees, and Pastor recommended that $30,000.00 of the estates be allocated to a Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are to be granted out of the interest earnings of the Fund. Anyone can contribute to the Scholarship Fund. The purpose of the Scholarship Fund is to provide financial support to our college students.

This scholarship is given in honor of the late Loraine Coles Simpson, a longstanding member of the First Baptist Church of Suitland Maryland. Simpson was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.  She always gave of her time and wisdom to enrich the lives of others. The purpose is to assist Youth going to college that have a financial need for funds. Youth that already have a full scholarship should not apply.
